Settings

Settings

The Settings screen is the central place to configure Tsumihon’s behavior. It is organized into sections, each grouping related options together.

General

Core display and behavior preferences for the app.

  • Display — choose between light, dark, or system theme.
  • Language — set the app’s interface language.
  • Default reading direction — choose right-to-left (Japanese standard), left-to-right, or vertical scrolling as the default for new books.

Title Display

Controls which title field is shown throughout the app (library grid, detail screen, search results). Books can have up to three title fields: Japanese, Romaji, and English. This setting determines which one takes priority when displaying a book’s name.

Tip: If the selected title field is empty for a particular book, Tsumihon falls back to the next available title automatically.

AI Features

Settings for AI-powered functionality within Tsumihon.

  • Gemini API Key — enter your Google Gemini API key to enable OCR-based search. With this configured, you can take a photo of a book cover or page and search for it using Gemini’s vision capabilities.

The API key is stored locally on your device and is only sent to Google’s Gemini API when you initiate an OCR search.

Auto-Import

Configure automatic import of books from connected sources. Auto-import periodically checks your configured sources and adds new books to your library without manual intervention.

See the Auto-Import documentation for full details on configuring sources, schedules, and behavior.

Auto-Merge

Configure how Tsumihon automatically merges metadata from multiple sources for the same book. Auto-merge uses source IDs and title matching to identify duplicates and combine their metadata.

See the Auto-Merge documentation for details on merge rules and conflict resolution.

Backup & Sync

Configure cloud sync and backup settings. Cloud sync is enabled automatically when you sign in — see the Backup & Sync documentation for details on how sync works.

ExHentai Cookies

Configure your ExHentai session cookies to enable access to ExHentai as a search and metadata source. The minimum required cookies are ipb_member_id and ipb_pass_hash.

See the ExHentai setup guide for instructions on obtaining and entering your cookies.

If you use Tsumihon on multiple devices, the cookie sync passphrase lets you share your ExHentai cookies across devices securely. Cookies are encrypted with the passphrase before being stored in the cloud, and decrypted on each device using the same passphrase.

  • Set the same passphrase on all your devices to enable cross-device cookie sharing.
  • An empty passphrase is allowed — if you leave it blank, cookies are stored without additional encryption (still protected by your account authentication).
  • Changing the passphrase re-encrypts your cookies. All other devices will need the new passphrase to decrypt them.

Tip: If you only use Tsumihon on a single device, you can ignore the cookie sync passphrase entirely.
